Whenever you turn on your TV or computer these days, there always a number of things you can expect to see. Some of these things are newsworthy items that are worth discussing, or affect us in some way. But the rest are things that are just so annoying, and never seem to leave our screens. Most of the time, these things are stupid people doing stupid things.
Now, some of these stupid people are celebrities, while others are polticians. We are constantly being treated to information about these individuals – information that we neither use nor need. For example, are fallen star Lindsay Lohan’s daily foibles and legal battles real news? To idiotic, celebrity-obsessed people, yes. To normal, balanced people who have better things to do, no. Why should I care that she’s in rehab for the 347th time? Why do I need to know what her parents think of her current situation? The reality of the situation is that I don’t. I am tired of seeing news about this degenerate everywhere I go. News outlets should be focusing on real news, and not on rubbish like this.
Another person who just won’t seem to go away is everyone’s favorite airheaded Alaskan, Sarah Palin. Mind you, she’s nowhere near the kinds of problems that Ms. Lohan is mired in, but she’s a complete idiot. It has been said that ex-governor of Alaska would be getting her own reality show at some point. I ask you, do we really need to see more of this idiot? The answer is a resounding NO. It’s bad enough that her daughter Bristol will be competing on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars this season, which may further increase the elder Palin’s unnecessary media exposure.
All of Hollywood in general annoys me. Celebrities, most of whom are rather dim-witted, are always on television and the Internet, and they won’t go away. In fact, I doubt they ever will. Why should I care if one person hooked up or broke up with another? Why should I care about who cheated on who? Why should I care what they’re wearing at awards shows? This kind of information is like junk food – it’s fattening, bad for you, and you don’t need it. I long for the days for when the news wasn’t full of inane information about people who don’t matter.
Unfortunately, we can say what we want, but stupid people like Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Palin, and countless others won’t be going away anytime soon. The sad part is that real news takes a hit with all of this “un-news” being spoonfed to us on a regular basis. It’s completely annoying, but people devour it like it’s candy. I question the intelligence of those who enjoy acting as voyeurs on the live of people who don’t matter. The idiots are here to stay, and I can probably guarantee that I’ll get angey the next time I turn on my TV or computer.
